Fiber Optic Splicing Technician

Experienced splicer, $25/hour to start, company truck and tools. Evening and night work on current projects, travel across Arizona.

Schedule

  • Flexible scheduling based on project needs
  • Current projects are primarily evening and night shifts
  • Schedule may transition to day shifts depending on customer requirements
  • Some weekend work may be required
  • Travel throughout Arizona and surrounding areas is expected

What you'll do

  • Perform fiber optic cable splicing, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Read and interpret splice diagrams, prints, and network documentation
  • Test and certify fiber using OTDRs, power meters, and related equipment
  • Maintain accurate splice records and documentation
  • Ensure all work meets customer specifications and industry standards
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Represent USLINK professionally with customers and project teams

Qualifications

  • Previous fiber optic splicing experience required
  • Experience with both aerial and underground fiber networks preferred
  • Ability to read fiber prints and splice documentation
  • Knowledge of fiber testing equipment and industry best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel as projects require

Requirements

  • Valid driver license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Professional references required
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Physical requirements

This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Work outdoors in varying weather, including extreme Arizona temperatures
  • Climb ladders and safely access aerial work locations when necessary
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and fiber testing equipment
  • Distinguish fiber color codes and perform detailed work requiring strong manual dexterity
  • Occasionally work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts based on project schedules
